Serenity Defined

A Farmer Plows his field.

Sweat pours from his brow – a hard day’s work is over.

He looks down at the bone dry earth –

“I need Rain”, he thinks, looking at his thirsty crop.

He looks up – to the south, he looks –

puts his hands over his eyes as a salute –

what does he see?

The storm in the distance.

The chance of the fate of the farmer – he sighs

The storm to the south, his fields remain dry.

Maybe next time, he thinks

as he picks up the dirt – and drops it to the ground.

Slowly turning around, kicking the field –

the dirt crunches under his feet.

He turns to take one last look at the storm that was –

How I missed you, he thinks –

maybe tomorrow.

Maybe tonight.
